Urban Development

By 2035, The Netherlands is expected to have 18.9 million inhabitants, 1.3 million more than in early 2022. This growth will occur mainly in cities and comes with challenges such as climate and energy transitions, housing, the social division, digitalization and the inclusive society. All interconnected challenges that cannot be solved with traditional thinking. In the Brainport region, municipalities, the Technical University, Brainport Development and the Fraunhofer Research Institute cooperate in the Urban Development Initiative to work together on innovative solutions.

We have supported the initiative by building an innovation ecosystem in co-creation with all partners. In our work we have engaged new partners, defined shared goals with matching value propositions, created a collaboration model and took creative direction of the process. In collaboration with partners of the initiative, we have identified three starting points that exemplify some of the most urgent themes that impact the well- being of local residents: The energy transition, digital cities and future building & living. A breakthrough in collaboration to achieve breakthroughs on social issues.
